John P. Lee Sr

LEE, John P. Sr. - Of Flint, age 62, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Paul Amstutz officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of V FW Post #822 Honor Guard. Contributions may be directed to the Family, Lewy Body Disease Association or Parkinson's Foundation. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Memorial Service by Flint Masonic Lodge No. 23 F.&A.M. will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. John was born in Flint on August 8, 1946. John served in the United States Air Force and served in Korea. On October 17, 1986 he married Bonita Easter in Flint. He was a civil servant for the U.S. Department of Commerce's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory in Ann Arbor as a procurement official and physical science technician, retiring in June 1999 after 27 years of federal service.

John was an active member in Lincoln Park United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was also active in United Methodist Men and Methodist Youth Fellowship Group. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #23, Rabbit Breeders Association. Surviving are wife, Bonnie; 3 sons, Edward of Davison, John Jr. of Flint, Andrew of Flint; Step-daughters, Kathleen Baker of Flint, Wendy Demo of Saginaw; Stepson, Bradley Macko and wife Kim of Lapeer; Brother, Jerry and wife Sue of New Mexico; Sisters, Janell Reeves of Grand Blanc and Diane and husband Mike McNea of Swartz Creek; Step-father, Virgil Alexander; mother-in-law, Ruby A. Easter, sisters-in-law, Janice Scobey and husband Michael, Laura Busch and husband John, Crystal Titus and husband Allan; Grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Alicia Flemming, Amanda Flemming, Sidney Baker, Skylar Ann Lee, Bailey Macko and Kelsey Macko; Great-granddaughter, Alyssa Baker; Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Glenn and Doris (Lee) Alexander, Sister, Bethany Lee and father-in-law, Willard R. Easter.
