Eadie" Subject: Post-event work I continue to encourage eeglers to examine the post plume evironment in the southern basin - this was the largest event, at St Joseph, in the 38 year turbidity record. For cogitation before our meeting next week - I was reminded today that Tom Nalepa (GLERL) will be taking the Lake Guardian on a 4 day cruise in the southern basin, beginning May 19 in Milwaukee, and already has planned stops at the 15 and 45m sites at all of the eegle transects (except Muskegon). He is collecting benthos at approximately 50 sites along with net tows for Hank at the eegle stations. There is certainly space available, but little extra time. Certainly hydrocasts could be made for water samples for on-board processing. If small amounts of extra $$ are needed by anyone to participate, the EEGLE management team has a small contingency fund and this seems a good use. During that same week, the Shenehon will be retrieving traps from Racine to Saugatuk and the Neeskay will be out doing ROV work on some of the transect lines. Probably neither space or time available, but supplementary sample collections may be and they both return to shore each night. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- Brian J.
