Eadie" Subject: EEGLE ships and Radionuclides I've only heard from Gary about the proposed Laurentian and Guardian cruises, so I assume that others are content to wait until the all-hands meeting Oct 14-16. Field strategies and scheduling will be the theme for a major break-out session, probably the whole day on the 14th. Use of radionuclides aboard the Guardian - the EPA doesn't have a liscense and it will take at least 6 months (THAT's ALMOST FEB !) to get one ammended - first we must get approval from EPA, then NRC. Whoever is planning to use radionuclides this coming year, I need the following ASAP so that we can ammend GLERLs NRC liscense - unless you prefer to amment your institutions liscense: . All of the info that you needed to ammend your institutions' liscense to do the experiments that you plan to conduct on-board (i.e. ... . The amount of radionuclides that you plan to bring - and how you're going to get them to the vessel. Presumably you'll have them delivered to someone at GLERL. . Experimental designs . Waste handling . Responsibility (authorized user). PLEASE let me know ASAP if you plan to use radionuclides on the Guardian - I need to begin the process with the EPA. The good EEGLE news is that Mike McCormick and the Canadians (sounds like a 40's Big Band) retrieved all 15 of his current meters and deployed a similar number successfully. Those retrieved will be redeployed in September - enlightenment will follow somewhat later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- Brian J.
