The strong north winds we had yesterday (Oct. 13) appear to have generated
a sizable resuspension event in Lake Michigan. The GOES imagery from
this afternoon (Oct. 14) shows high reflectivity in the water from the
Evanston, IL to South Haven, MI. Winds at 45007 were from the north
at 25 kts for several hours on Oct. 13. Wave height at the buoy
exceeded 10 ft. The Shenehon is currently en route from South Haven
the Michigan City for sediment trap and tripod deployment. They may
be able to take some water samples too.
