Mime-Version: 1.0 Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2000 08:14:21 -0500 To: eegle-all@wings.glerl.noaa.gov From: Greg Lang Subject: Access to EEGLE Data Pages EEGLErs, Because of Y2K fears (paranoia?), we have updated the server which houses the EEGLE pages. With this new server comes the ability to improve the access restriction methods to various EEGLE pages (mainly Data). The old method used a list of "allowed" IP addresses. This worked fine for most users, but would not allow access from other machines or via dial-ins. The new method will also use the same list of "allowed" IP addresses, but if the IP address is not on the list, the server will request a Username/Password for access. Once a username/password is correctly entered, access will be granted until you relaunch your browser. So, for most users, access will not change (i.e., there will not be a prompt for username/password). Please contact me if you would like to use the Username/Password. And, of course, let me know if you experience any problems accessing any of the EEGLE pages. Regards, Greg <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Gregory A.
