Eadie" Subject: All Hands Meeting Your hard-working management teams sat in the sunshine at the Ocean Sciences in San Antonio and devised a strategy for the next all hands meeting. First, we strongly encourage disciplinary groups or sub-groups to convene working meetings, for example we recently had an eegle-kites sediment meeting fro 2 days at Argonne, and amodeling meeting is planned for this sumer at GLERL. Second, we recognized a value in seperate eegle and kites working meetings, and an EEGLE meeting is being planned for Sept 25-27 at the Homestead Conference Center on the shore of Lake Michigan. Gary Fahnenstiel and Mike McCormick are getting on the Centers schedule (see below) and further information will follow. Kites folk are certainly welcome to attend. Finally, a joint EEGLE + KITES all hands meeting is being planned for Thursday and Friday, November 30 - Dec 1. [That's the week after Thanksgiving and a week before AGU] at Argonne National Lab. Barry Lesht will be hosting. A preliminary agenda follows: Thursday AM - combined (EEGLE + KITES) group meetings (physcis, sediments, ecology , with appropriate modelers in each group) Thursday PM - Posters and unformatted discussions Friday AM - Unformatted discussions Friday PM - Plenary, 30 minute reports (including discussions) from the Groups + Open discussions (joint publications, small workshops, plans for upcoming sessions at meetings, other products) Adjourn about 3:00 (people can stay over Saturday for cheaper airfares, shop or attend museums in Chicago, etc). ========================================================== Some information from Gary about the September EEGLE meeting Because of the uniqueness of the Homestead, i have to settle some of these issues ASAP. So, i am going to hold 40 hotel style rooms, and 5-8 condos, for the period of Spet 25-28 (Monday-Thurs). Once people get to the Homestead, i think they will be willing to spend an extra day discussing important matters (Thurs). Let me know when I can finalize (commit) to the Homestead. Please note that people will have to commit to reservations months in advance as we are doing everything individually. That is, after conference concerns, everyone will be on their own to make reservations at our special rate. If they do not make them well in advance, they may not be staying on site. For single rooms, the cheapest rate will be $119 which includes breakfast and lunch. For two people sharing a room (double occupancy), the rate will be $173. Prices go up from here. ============================================ Brian J.
