Eadie" Subject: ASLO 2001 Aquatic Sciences Meeting - PLEASE RESPOND by March 21 The deadline for Special Session suggestions for the 2001 ASLO is March 31 (see below). The meeting is next February 12-16, one week after the SIL meeting in Australia - I know that some folks are thinking of attending that. Two years ago we had a session at ASLO focused on 'episodic events", and two months ago we had one at the Ocean Sciences Meeting on "nearshore-offshore transport'. Do we want to organize a session for the Albuquerque meeting ? We could focus on the relative importance of coastal processes (river inputs, sed resus, thermal bar, upwellings) in large lakes (and coastal oceans ?). [Relative to whole system processes]. Of course, others could make suggestions for a different focus. Anyway, the main question is who would participate from eegle and kites. Please let me know if you would be inclined to participate by Tues, March 21. P.S. Is anyone else interested in organizing/chairing such a session ? >X-Sender: business@calpha.com (Unverified) >Date: Thu, 02 Mar 2000 16:15:58 -0600 >To: "ASLO Members":; >From: ASLO Business Office >Subject: ASLO 2001 Aquatic Sciences Meeting > >AQUATIC SCIENCES (ASLO) 2001 MEETING > >MAKING CONNECTIONS IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY >Feb. 12-16, 2001 - Albuquerque, New Mexico > > >Call for SPECIAL SYMPOSIA SESSIONS > > >The ASLO 2001 Planning Committee invites proposals for special sessions >for the 2001 ASLO Aquatic Sciences Meeting, to be held February, 12-16, >2001 in Albuquerque, New Mexico (See http://aslo.org/albuquerque2001.html). > >The theme of ASLO 2001: > >As limnology and oceanography enter the 21st century, there is increasing >focus on making connections within and among (1) environmental systems, >(2) spatial and temporal scales, (3) disciplinary approaches, and (4) >science and society at local, regional and international levels. > >(1) Environmental Connections subtheme.
