From: David Schwab Subject: EEGLE Email Problem To: eegle-all@wings.glerl.noaa.gov Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 10:33:26 EDT Isn't there a law that the time when a system fails is invariably when it is needed most? Well in accordance with this principle, unknown to us, the EEGLE email system has not been working properly for the last week and a half. The installation of a new internet firewall at GLERL has prevented anyone except people inside GLERL from using the EEGLE email aliases (eegle-pi, eegle-all, etc.) The problem should now be fixed. Of course it means that we missed all of Paul's forecasts for the big event, but it looks like we'll still get pretty good coverage. We sent out an aerial photographer this morning to try to get some 'up-close' imagery and a precise location on the offshore extension of the plume. Mike McCormick went along to help guide the pilot. Hopefully Tom Johengen and the rest of the group will be on the Shenehon to sample stations through the plume later this afternoon. Satellite imagery from yesterday shows the offshore turbidity plume extending from St. Joe to station J80 (80 m depth, directly NW of St. Joe). ... Dave S.
