Date: Sat, 16 Dec 2000 09:01:37 -0600 From: Val Klump X-Accept-Language: en To: eegle-kites@wings.glerl.noaa.gov Subject: L&O Special Issue -- ACTION ITEM All Hands, This is to follow up on our discussion at Argonne wrt a special issue in L&O. Everett has outlined the steps in his letter (attached), consequently I suggest we do the following: 1. Find volunteer editors for the issue. If you are interested, please volunteer and submit a brief ăcredentials statementä suitable for forwarding to the ASLO board to any member of the program management teams (copy me if you would please). The combined program management teams of KITES and EEGLE will consult and propose a group of editors from both programs and with disciplinary balance (biology, physics, geochemistry) ö perhaps 6 total. 2. Provide a rough outline of papers and authors. ASAP, please indicate the subject/title and the potential authors for any mss for which you are relatively certain you will submit for inclusion in this special issue (again copy me please so that I can prepare a letter to ASLO). It would be good for us to be on the agenda of the ASLO board at its meeting in February, if possible. Therefore some rapid action is necessary. Presumably we have all already given this some thought so it shouldnât be too difficult. Cheers, Val ------------------------- Dear Val, > >The first step in the procedure for getting a Special Issue (SI) proposal >approved is what you have already done: contact the L&O Editor for input >and feedback. Assuming that you can convince me that your SI is worth >pursuing (and you have!), the next step in getting it approved would be to >write a letter to the ASLO President, who is currently > > Dr. William M.
