X-Attachments: ./2003/KITES_EEGLE_ms_list_update.doc We (the program managers) need your help on a few things. 1. We need to submit a unified proposal (at NSF's request) for the costs associated with producing the JGR special issue, the Lake Superior JGLR Issue, and a synthesis monograph. * Marty Auer will provide the JGLR information. * We have something already submitted by you on the JGR Issue (attached). If you have newer information about color pages or new manuscripts we would appreciate this. * We need to move forward on the synthesis volume (AGU Monograph Series) requested by NSF and NOAA in order to submit a budget to NSF. * NSF has told us they will not provide salary * While it's difficult to foresee without all submitted JGR (and other) manuscripts, I suggest (for budget calculations) the following monograph outline that we will have a total of 7 'Teams': 1. EEGLE - KITES Summary / comparison / synthesis ? 2. EEGLE - Physical - Nearshore - offshore transport 3. KITES - Physical - Keweenaw Current transport, ? 4. EEGLE - Sediment transport and transformation 5. KITES - Sediment transport 6. EEGLE - Ecological implications 7. KITES - Ecology Assuming that writing will begin in late summer and drafts be completed by January '03 - Please let me know what teams you will contribute to, and WHO will volunteer to LEAD the teams. I am suggesting $2,500 for each team (for travel, salary, whatever), $5,000 for color pages, and $2,500 to edit the monograph into camera-ready format. Draft total is $25,000 for the synthesis monograph. In order for Sarah to write the proposal before she leaves on sabbatical, she would like this input by close of business Tuesday Jan 28. 2. Finally, we would like to encourage everyone to voluntarily provide an electronic copy of their JGR manuscripts as they are submitted. Send them to Greg Lang, who will create an EEGLE-KITES-only area on the EEGLE web so that we can cross reference, etc. Please respond to both Sarah Green and me. Thanks sarah a green Brian.Eadie@noaa.gov
