This directory contains: latlon.dat: list of i,j,lat, lon, depth for all 14458 non-land grid cells in Lake Michigan 2 km bathymetric grid. mi_shore.dat: Lake Michigan shoreline data files converted from NGDC medium resolution vector shoreline data and shoreline classification data provided by Deborah Lee, GLERL. mi_shore.doc: Documentation for the shoreline file. mich2km.dat: Lake Michigan 2 km gridded bathymetric data derived from NGDC Lake Michigan 9 arc second bathymetry. The grid is defined on a Lambert conformal conic map projection with a central longitude of 86.5W and standard parallels of 43N and 45N. The grid origin is at 41.5976372N 87.9898071W. Depths are in meters below the chart datum of 176.0 m (IGLD 1985). rgrid.pro: IDL program to read and plot bathymetric grid and shoreline. rgrid.f: FORTRAN subroutines for reading bathymetric data and for map coordinate conversion (use these to replace RGRID, XDIST, YDIST, RLAT, and RLON - the new versions can handle bathymetric data files in both approximate polyconic and Lambert conformal conic projections) sigmalev.pro: IDL program to plot the sigma levels for the 2 km Lake Michigan grid sigmalev.txt: Vertical segmentation scheme for the Lake Michigan 2 km hydrodynamic model simulations. There are 40 sigma levels (39 layers) in the segmentation. The top 20 layers cover the upper 25% of the water column with uniform (delta sigma = 0.0125) vertical spacing. Between the 20th layer and the bottom, layer thicknesses increase and decrease geometrically so that the lowest layer thickness is also 0.0125.
