Date of Ice Break-out by Coast Gaurd is typically around March 21st if ship has to move through St. Mary's River.
Laurentian size ship probably adequate for KITES but could use a bigger ship for one cruise in Yrs 2 and 3 to allow greater number of scientists to work together.
