What's New: 1999
Lake Michigan Field Station Area Code Reassigned
The city of Muskegon, including the Lake Michigan Field Station, is being reassigned to a new telephone area code: 231, replacing the old 616 area code.The new area code is already in effect, and dialing either area code will function until Saturday, Oct. 2nd, 1999. After that, only the 231 area code will be valid.
Please use the transition period to begin updating data bases and other records which contain the Muskegon area code. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
