Major Duties
Incumbent leads a team or conducts independent long-range and short-term research in specific area of expertise. Is responsible for all phases of research from conception, planning and development of a program or project through execution and reporting of research findings. Research will be expected to address scientific problems in the Great Lakes or coastal marine environment. Participates in planning activities for scientific programs including those specifically directed toward their area of expertise. Collaborates in planning for multi-disciplinary projects within laboratory and assists in planning for major programs within NOAA.
Step I. Determine the Job Series, Grade, and Vacancy Announcement Number.
GS-401 GS-408 GS-482 GS-1301 This position will be filled at Grade 13, 14 or 15 depending on your qualifications. Grades 13 and 14 have promotional potential to the Grade 15.
You must specify which Grade you are applying for and submit a separate application package for each Series and Grade you wish to be considered under.
Also, veterans who are preference-eligible or who have been separated from the armed forces under honorable conditions after 3 or more years of continuous active service may apply under STATUS announcements.
If you do not meet one of these criteria, you must only apply under the "Non-status" vacancy announcements.
