Dr. Cathy Lascara, Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography of Old Dominion University, will be presenting a talk entitled "Collaborative Virtual Environments: Frameworks for Oceanographers and Limnologists" on Wednesday, May 27th at 2:00 pm in the main conference room of the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Lascara's formal education has resulted in degrees from Florida Institute of Technology, College of William and Mary, and ODU. Between the masters and doctoral programs, she spent ten years working as a computer applications developer supporting several marketed software products. Her current research focuses on the integration of emerging technologies (advanced visualization, high performance computing and communications) with oceanographic studies. Cathy is involved with several projects to develop and implement rapidly configurable Collaborative Virtual Environments (CVEs) to support the visualization and analysis of complex oceanographic data sets.
