What is the difference between climate and weather?

Weather is...The state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc. Weather refers to these conditions at a given point in time.*

Climate is...The composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of a region, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years.*

An Ecosystem is...a geographically specified system of organisms (including humans), and the environment and the processes that control its dynamics.

Climate Change Impacts on Great Lakes Ecosystem

GLERL and the Great Lakes Cooperative Institute, via Ohio State University, are hosting a Climate Impacts on Great Lakes Ecosystems/ three-day workshop in Columbus Ohio on May 12th – 15th . The goal of this workshop is primarily to set the research priorities for the region on this topic. The workshop is divided into three parts: 1) to determine the present state of knowledge of climate change impacts on Great Lakes ecosystems; 2) to obtain stakeholders’ needs regarding climate change products and services; and, 3) to create a research strategy with specific goals and milestones that addresses the stakeholders’ needs.
