Australia - Great Barrier Reef

The environmental radiotracers project has been part of
GLERL's research program for 20 years. It has employed a variety
of natural and fallout radionuclides to characterize and model
particle transport processes in diverse systems around the world.
It also has provided a practical means for the environmental
management community to assess historic impacts of contaminants
and nutrients on ecosystems and evaluate proposed remediation
strategies. In Australia, this project is looking at metal
contaminant chronology of recent sediments near the Great Barrier
Reef.
