Pacific Ocean

Oceanic responses to intra-seasonal oscillations have been observed at many locations in the Indian and Pacific oceans extending from the tropics to mid-latitudes. Despite extensive observational, modeling, and theoretical studies available, there does not seem to have satisfactory explanation for all features. GLERL researchers are using continuous wavelet transform to analyze the episodic transient events on the intra-seasonal oscillations that appear to be prevailing during the El Nino years.

Atlantic Ocean

GLERL research in the Atlantic Ocean combines several of the less explored topics in the realm of coastal waves including rogue or freak waves, impulse generated waves, intra-seasonal oscillations, and long-term wave statistics.
