Hannaea arcus Profile: Typically found in springs and streams, prefers cool, flowing
water. 15x4 to 150x7 um. 2 Great Lakes Species (including named varieties): H. arcus, H. arcus var. amphioxys, H. arcus var. linearis Hannaea superiorensis - discovered 2005 by Rebecca Bixby of the University of Georgia, Mark Edlund of the Science Museum of Minnesota and Eugene Stoermer from the University of Michigan. Described in the November 2005 issue of Diatom Research. Boomerang-shaped and twice the length of H. arcus.
