Adults rarely grow larger than 40 mm (1.5"), and
are commonly about the size of a nickel. Shell coloration can be yellowish-gold,
or light brown. Invasive - originated from Southeast Asia in the 1920s.
Sexes normally separate but can be hermaphroditic and capable of self-fertilization
- larvae remain in the parent's gills until reaching benthic adult
form at ~1mm. |
