INSTALLATION of DERIVATIVE OUTLOOK WEIGHTS (a Windows application) Contained in the file, NOAAWGHT.EXE, is an application entitled DERIVATIVE OUTLOOK WEIGHTS. It is a graphical user interface, with supporting documentation, that allows anyone to mix forecasts of meteorology probabilities from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Environment Canada (EC), and others, to make their own derivative forecasts. DERIVATIVE OUTLOOK WEIGHTS may be installed (for Windows9x, NT, 2000, XP) by simply downloading and running the program: NOAAWGHT.EXE. This will run an installation wizard, allowing the user to install the product where desired. Complete documentation of the software will be found in the installed materials. The documentation also contains references on the methodology and theory. Additionally available is a description of the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory's use of this software in its Advanced Hydrologic Prediction System in file: GLAHPS.PDF. Also, a short tutorial is given in the file: TUTORIAL.PDF. Both files require the Adobe Acrobat Reader, available for free from: http://www.adobe.com/ The file DOW_Tutor_13mar2002.exe is an interactive "multi-media" tutorial teaching the concepts and features of the software. It will guide the user through downloading, installing and using the software. It will also (hopefully) provide sufficient background so that the user can create derivative probabilistic outlooks from forecast meteorology probabilities. There is also a tutorial for an older version of the software (no longer available here). It is similar to the newer tutorial, but for that older version of the software. That file is DOW_tutor_26sep2000.exe.
